Google Sidewiki land grab... what do you think?
There is a lot of land-grabbing going on these days, with browser real-estate and social mind-share at stake for site owners and businesses everywhere.
I read this brief opinion piece on AdAge earlier today... https://adage.com/digitalnext/post?article_id=139352
Stepping in and participating in the conversations around your business is critical to your success. Historically however, it seems that overlaying meta information on a site has been met with resistance from site owners, especially those sites that sell advertising - drawing clicks and eyeballs away from their source of revenue on the page.
It will be very interesting to see how the land grab for real estate on sites across the Web plays out in the coming weeks and months, and how site owners will respond.
What do you think of Google Sidewiki?
This and other aspects of engagment with customers - and enabling businesses to participate in online conversations are certainly top of mind for me and the rest of the CloudProfile team as we continue to focus on creating a social media business presence solution for businesses that enables them to monitor, track and participate in conversations that are relevant to them.
